HC Deb 12 April 1945 vol 409 c2007W
Sir L. Lyle

asked the, Secretary of State for War how many men have been released from the Army during the current year to take up essential work in connection with the building industry or housing programme; and how many he anticipates will be released for this purpose within the next six months.

Mr. A. Henderson

Eighty officers and 450 other ranks have been released this year in addition to the 24 officers and 1,5oo other ranks released for these purposes in the last six months of last year. It is, I regret, impossible to say how many are likely to be released in the next six months.
