HC Deb 12 April 1945 vol 409 c2007W
Mr. Harvey

asked the Minister of Education what representations he has received asking for reconsideration and modification of the new draft Regulations 18, 20 and 23, in respect of their effect on existing grammar schools.

Mr. Ede

No representations have been received on Regulation 18 of the draft Primary and Secondary Schools Regulations. Representations on Regulation 20 have been received from two bodies on the ground that the Regulation will involve the curtailment of grammar school holidays. As regards Regulation 23, representations have been received on behalf of the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church and from one local education authority, mainly on the ground that it will hinder the employment of clerks in holy orders or regular ministers of congregations as teachers in grammar schools. One educational body has made representations against any relaxation of this Regulation and in favour of its application to all county secondary schools.
