HC Deb 04 May 1944 vol 399 c1480W
Mr. Wakefield

asked the Minister of Labour if he is now in a position to release more labour to enable boots and shoes of civilian workers to be repaired without the present delays of several weeks.

Mr. Bevin

Owing to the present manpower stringency, I regret that I am not in a position to release labour for this purpose. In agreement, however, with my right hon. Friend, the President of the Board of Trade, any skilled workers who become available will be used to fill notified vacancies in boot and shoe repairing establishments.
