asked the Secretary of State for Air under what circumstances, other than loss of pay arising out of an award by a commanding officer or court-martial, an airman's pay issues can be reduced to below 1s. a day.

It is competent for the Air Council to order deductions from the pay of airmen for the recovery of public and Service debts. It is the practice, however, so to limit the deductions that issues of pay are not reduced below 1s. a day; indeed, they are not allowed to fall to that level.
