§ Lord Dunglassasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has considered 400W the requests from various agricultural bodies for a reduction in the hours of double summer time and when he will be in a position to make a statement.
Mr. JohnstonI am aware of Scottish agricultural opinion on the question of double summer time and, as I indicated in my reply to the hon. Member for Dumbarton (Mr. McKinlay) on 30th November last, the Government appreciate the difficulties caused to agriculture by this arrangement. As, however; the noble Lord is aware, there are other Departments concerned, and I am not meantime in a position to make any statement on the subject.
