HC Deb 23 September 1943 vol 392 c429W
Mr. Lewis

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will consider the desirability of a supplementary allowance of clothing coupons for agricultural workers, on account of the severe wear and tear to which their boots and clothing are subjected, by working long hours in the open in all weathers?

Captain Waterhouse

Yes, Sir. My right hon. Friend has decided, in consultation with the British Employers' Confederation arid the Trades Union Congress, to repeat in the present rationing period the issue of, 10 supplementary coupons which was made in 1942–43 to agricultural and industrial workers. The date of issue, and certain minor modifications of the scheme, are now under discussion and a further announcement will be made when these are settled.
