HC Deb 27 October 1943 vol 393 c201W
Major Lyons

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will arrange for the setting up of a Departmental Committee to review and standardise in collaboration with other appropriate Departments all statistical information relating to each of the territories within the Colonial Empire?

Colonel Stanley

The improvement of the machinery for the provision of statistics relating to the Colonies is already under consideration by the Colonial Research Committee as part of a general scheme for research in the social sciences, and I propose also to ask for the advice of my Economic Advisory Committee on economic statistics. I do not think that the time is yet ripe for the appointment of any special committee on this subject.
