HC Deb 21 October 1943 vol 392 c1533W
Major C. S. Taylor

asked the Minister of Health the number of hospitals dealing with maternity cases who are equipped with gas and oxygen anæsthetic appliances and the number which are not?

Mr. E. Brown

The records of my Department show that 47 local supervising authorities in England and Wales have provided the apparatus, in some cases for domiciliary use. Of the 88 emergency maternity homes under the Government evacuation scheme 60 have been supplied with machines for the administration of gas and air anæsthesia. I have no information as to the provision of this equipment in voluntary hospitals.
