HC Deb 13 October 1943 vol 392 c911W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether, with a view to making more adequate provision of transport and saving man-hours for those engaged on munition work and other essential work, the Government will now consider increasing the number of motor-omnibuses in the more congested areas throughout the country?

Mr. Noel-Baker

As my right hon. Friend, the Minister of Labour, said in his statement to the House on 23rd September, the Government are anxious to make all practicable improvements in the transport facilities for workers. In consequence, arrangements are being made to strengthen omnibus services which are used by workers in those places where the need for improvement is most urgent, and where the necessary drivers and conductors can be found.
