HC Deb 13 October 1943 vol 392 c888W
Mr. John Dugdale

asked the Minister of Information whether he will take steps to terminate broadcasts by persons who have escaped from Nazi-occupied territory purporting to give details of acts of sabotage carried out in those countries, as such information must either be untrue or endanger the lives of saboteurs still remaining in enemy territory?

Mr. Bracken

I do not accept either of the alternatives which the hon. Member propounds in the latter part of his Question. Stories dealing with sabotage or escapes are broadcast by the B.B.C. only after they have consulted the Allied authorities concerned or the appropriate Department of His Majesty's Government, or both. I agree that great caution must always be exercised before releasing any such story.
