Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State of State for War whether he can give any information about the charge made against Gerald P. Bevan, of Ladywood, Birmingham, for stealing secret documents and £50 in money from a deed box?

Mr. A. Henderson

On 7th October, 1943, at Kesteven Quarter Sessions this man pleaded guilty to stealing a deed box on 22nd April, 1942, from the office of the Officer Commanding the military detachment at a R.A.F. station. The contents of the box, except for £50, were subsequently recovered. He was bound over in the sum of £10 and was ordered to make restitution of £50. This he did.
