HC Deb 13 October 1943 vol 392 cc899-900W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he can give any information in connection with the train and omnibus crash at Didcot, Berkshire, on Friday night, 1st October; how many people were killed and injured; and what was the cause of the accident at the level crossing?

Mr. A. Henderson

A bus driven by a civilian employee of a military depot collided at a level crossing with a train. Seven civilians were killed and I should like to take this opportunity to express my deep sympathy with their families. Seven civilians were seriously injured. A court of inquiry is being convened to examine the causes of the accident and pending its report I am not in a position to give any further information.
