HC Deb 11 November 1943 vol 393 c1319W
Mr. Leach

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food who were the experts and interests opposed to pasteurisation of milk who were consulted by the Ministry of Food before the recent White Paper was issued?

Mr. Mabane

When the Government policy for improving the quality of milk was under discussion, many interests asked for an opportunity to place their case before my Department. Those interests were given full opportunity to set out their point of view, either in writing or at a meeting. No organisation specifically claiming to represent anti-pasteurisers asked to have an opportunity of submitting its views but private individuals and trade organisations, such as the National Federation of Producer-Retailers, made representations against pasteurisation on various grounds. These were fully considered.
