§ Dr. Littleasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food the basis on which the price of Northern Ireland potatoes is fixed; and why this price is considerably lower, in most instances, than that paid for British potatoes?
§ Mr. MabaneThe basis for fixing the price of potatoes, whether grown in Northern Ireland or Great Britain, is to add to the pre-war price of each variety and class an amount representing subsequent increases in cost of production per ton of potatoes. The pre-war differences in prices in different areas in the United Kingdom have therefore been maintained.
