§ Sir A. Baillieasked the Minister of Agriculture the number of cases in which the war agricultural executive committees have dispossessed owners for the improper treatment of stock; and whether his attention has been called to a case of starving cows and calves which was recently heard at Bearsted police court?
Mr. HudsonThe neglect or mismanagement of livestock is not in itself a ground for dispossession of an occupier under Defence Regulations apart from the state of cultivation of the holding, though it may well be a contributory factor. Improper treatment of livestock can be dealt with in other ways not necessarily involving dispossession of the farmer. The particular case mentioned is at present under the consideration of the Kent war agricultural executive committee from both aspects.
