HC Deb 30 March 1943 vol 388 c42W
Major Lyons

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer who is the chief adviser on cinematography to His Majesty's Government; the date of his appointment and his qualifications for the position?

Sir K. Wood

I assume that my hon. and gallant Friend is referring to the Government Cinematograph Adviser. This post is at present held by Mr. Hughes-Roberts, who was appointed to it on 6th May, 1934. His qualifications are his experience and knowledge of the requirements of Government Departments in cinematograph matters and of the technique and practice of the cinematograph industry bearing on these requirements.
