asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the advisory committees recommended in the Report of the Kennet Committee on man-power in banking and other businesses have yet been appointed?

Yes, Sir. I have appointed advisory committees to assist the Treasury and the industrial assurance commissioner in considering reports from the banking industry and from industrial assurance offices respectively, and my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade has appointed an Advisory Committee to assist him in considering reports relating to ordinary insurance. The following gentlemen have been good enough to agree to serve on these Committees:

Banking and Allied Businesses.—Lord Kennet, Mr. E. H. Lever, Mr. G. W. Thomson, Sir John Forbes Watson, Sir Robert Witt and Sir William Wood.

Ordinary Insurance—Mr. F. H. E. Branson, Mr. J. C. Burleigh, Sir Geoffrey Clarke, The Hon. Geoffrey Cunliffe and Mr. George Gibson.

Industrial Assurance—Mr. T. G. Davies, Mr. C. Dukes, Mr. Douglas T. Garrett, Mr. Herbert Kay and Sir Felix Pole.
