HC Deb 05 August 1943 vol 391 c2488W
Mr. Driberg

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that Lieut.-Colonel J. O. Stuart has forbidden the circulation of the "Daily Mirror" newspaper among the officers and men under his command on political grounds and because he dislikes a serial cartoon; and whether he will instruct this officer that such interference with freedom of choice of reading matter by officers and men is not within the scope of his authority?

Mr. A. Henderson

Inquiries are being made about this and I will communicate with my hon. Friend when I have further information.
