§ Sir J. Mellorasked the Secretary of State for War when lists of names of men applying for their release from the Armed Forces in order to return to work in coalmines were closed; and whether, in view of recent developments, the lists will be reopened?
§ Mr. A. HendersonThe lists were closed by agreement with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Fuel and Power on 31st December, 1942. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State gave an outline of these arrangements in an answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Hemsworth (Mr. G. Griffiths) on 4th May. It is not considered that the Army should now release further men.
