HC Deb 04 August 1943 vol 391 c2319W
Mr. R. Morgan

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the adoption of the principle by the Government, he will advise the War Damage Commission to permit the execution of cost of works on the time and line system, should the owner of the property so desire it?

Sir K. Wood

No, Sir. I do not think there is any need to advise the War Damage Commission as suggested. The Commission is not empowered to give or to withhold permission for the execution of works on the time and line system, but is only under an obligation to pay for the reasonable cost of the repair of war damage irrespective of the system on which the work is done. In fact, the great majority of claims is at present prepared and dealt with on this basis.
