HC Deb 20 April 1943 vol 388 c1551W
Mr. E. P. Smith

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he is aware that there are at present abnormal stocks of split lentils in this country which are elbowed off the market because they are on points in competition with other more favoured comestibles; and whether he will consider temporarily taking them off points so that people may have the benefit of this cheap and excellent food before it spoils from keeping?

Mr. Mabane

The supply of split lentils is not more than is required to meet estimated future demands. While the situation will be closely watched, my Noble Friend sees no reason at present for adopting my hon. Friend's suggestion.
