§ Mr. Martinasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether, in view of the diversity of medical opinion as to the effect of adding calcium to bread, he will consider offering two loaves to the public, one containing calcium and one without?
§ Mr. MabaneMy Department is guided in all matters affecting medical questions and public health by the Food Rationing (Special Diets) Advisory Committee of the Medical Research Council. As this Committee strongly advised that calcium should be added to all flour and that there should not be an alternative loaf containing no added calcium, my Noble Friend sees no reason for adopting the suggestion made by my hon. Friend.
