§ Mr. Groves
asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will make enquiries into the delay in dealing with the recent outbreak of small-pox in Glasgow; whether he is is aware that 17 days elapsed from the discovery of the first case before the Glasgow doctors were given notice; and what steps he proposes to take to deal with any future occurrence?
With regard to the first two parts of the Question I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to his similar Questions on 4th and 6th August. I cannot accept his suggestion that there was delay in dealing with the recent outbreak of small-pox in Glasgow. With regard to the third part of the Question, if any further cases of small-pox occur in Scotland measures of control will be taken, as they were taken in Glasgow, on the lines already well established by epidemiological experience as most effective.
