HC Deb 09 September 1942 vol 383 cc179-80W
Mr. W. Brown

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give instructions to all Departments that, where Departmental committees are set up to consider the more effective and econo- mical use of staff, the associations should be given direct representation on such committees?

Sir K. Wood

The composition of Departmental committees is a matter which must be left to the discretion of the head of the Department concerned. I have no doubt that every Department is fully conscious of the importance of utilising the experience of the staff when manpower problems are under consideration.
