HC Deb 08 September 1942 vol 383 c52W
Sir L. Lyle

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether, in fixing the price of grouse, which is a luxury article, he has considered the possibility that this action may drive the product off the market altogether; and whether he will abstain from price controlling articles of this nature, which do not enter into the dietary of the average individual?

Mr. Mabane

The likely effect on the supply of grouse was fully considered before the' maximum prices were fixed, and fears that the product would be driven off the market were felt to be unjustified. As regards the second part of the Question, the answer is in the negative.
