HC Deb 21 October 1942 vol 383 cc1980-1W
Major Lyons

asked the Minister of Information what alteration has been made, or is contemplated, in the personnel of his headquarters staff and the British Broadcasting Corporation of those of military and National Service age consequent upon the findings and/or recommendations of the Kennet Committee as applied to his department?

Mr. Bracken

The recommendations of the Kennet Committee for the Civil Service in general are, of course, applied to the Ministry and, as a consequence, members of the staff have been released to the Services and others have had their calling up deferred. On the recommendation of the Kennet Committee, the age of reservation of certain grades of the B.B.C. staff has been raised to 35. Under this decision well over 100 men have been released for the Forces.
