§ Mr. Parkerasked the Paymaster General whether he was aware, at the time when arrangemnts were made for the examination of the Scott and Uthwatt Reports by his Department, of the association with the building trade of the principal official who would thereby be concerned?
§ Sir W. JowittI would remind my hon. Friend that the Government enjoy the services of large numbers of men who for the time being have severed, or substantially severed, their connection with industry to further Government business in the press of war. No embarrassment, and much advantage, arises from these arrangements. I am completely satisfied that Sir Alfred Hurst's work in my office is unprejudiced by his previous association with the building trade.
