HC Deb 10 November 1942 vol 383 c2303W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Minister of Labour whether he can give any information in connection with the two men killed and II men injured by a falling building at Chessington, Surrey, and what was the cause of the building collapsing?

Mr. Bevin

I understand that, as found at the inquest on the 30th October, when a verdict of accidental death was returned, a partially constructed roof of a building collapsed. The bracing provided to maintain the roof trusses in a stable condition during erection gave way. I am taking steps to direct attention to the causes of the accident with a view to preventing a recurrence.
