HC Deb 18 March 1942 vol 378 cc1533-4W
Mr. Ness Edwards

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether the plans for the requisitioning of the means of transport and their co-ordination into one national transport system, prepared by the hon. and gallant Member for Wallasey (Lieut.-Colonel Moore-Brabazon) whilst he was Minister of Transport, have been examined by the present Minister; and, if so, with what result?

Mr. Noel-Baker

On assuming office, my noble Friend reviewed the control of the railways and introduced a revised arrangement. A road haulage scheme has been developed and has now been brought into operation. Broadly, all our means of public passenger and goods transport have been or are being co-ordinated, under Government direction, in the interests of the war effort.
