§ Mr. Leachasked the Minister of Health, how many cases of diphtheria 1402W and deaths from that disease were notified or registered in Lambeth in 1938, 1939, 1940 and 1941; and whether any of the cases or deaths were amongst immunised children?
§ Mr. E. BrownThe number of cases of diphtheria and deaths from that disease notified and registered in Lambeth in 1938, 1939, 1940 and 1941 is as follows:—
Cases. Deaths. 1938 … 609 12 1939 … 235 3 1940 … 124 7 1941 (provisional) 122 3 The information asked for by my hon. Friend in the second part of the Question is not readily available, and to obtain all the particulars referred to would mean imposing a laborious task on the local authority concerned. I do not feel justified in thus adding to the heavy strain under which local authorities and their medical officers of health are working at the present time.
