HC Deb 09 July 1942 vol 381 c963W
Mr. Liddall

asked the Minister of Labour what are the trades and industries from which have been set up committees to recommend deferment from military service and in respect of which there is no minimum age limit to qualify for such deferment?

Mr. Bevin

Committees have been set up to advise on applications for the deferment of calling up for military service of men employed in the legal and accountancy professions, and in insurance, stockbroking, newspapers, publishing, entertainment and film production. There is also a committee to advice on the applications in respect of male staff employed by employers' organisations and trade unions. A minimum age limit below which deferment of calling up is not normally granted has been laid down in all cases.
