§ Mr. BevinI presume that my hon. Friend refers to the inquiries addressed to the man and his employer in order to ascertain his domestic circumstances, the work on which he is employed and any Civil Defence duties on which he may be already engaged. These inquiries cannot be dispensed with and necessarily involve a considerable expenditure of time and paper. I am at present considering whether the procedure can be simplified and if my hon. Friend has any suggestions to make for this purpose I shall be glad to consider them.
