HC Deb 21 January 1942 vol 377 cc360-1W
Mr. Wilmot

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware of the unsuitable accommodation and overcrowded conditions at a certain Army record office, housed in three church halls and three dance halls, with inadequate heating and sanitation; and what steps he is taking to remedy this situation urgently in view of the continued expansion of staff and current dangers to health and safety?

Captain Margesson

Owing to the rapid expansion of the record office in question and the shortage of available accommodation in the neighbourhood, it has been decided to requisition temporarily further accommodation in the same building and to erect as quickly as possible additional hutted office blocks and an adjoining hutted camp.
