HC Deb 11 February 1942 vol 377 cc1540-1W
53. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Supply whether he will inquire into the case of one Royal Ordnance Factory requesting tenders to be returned by noon on the 1st February, 1942, asking traders to tender for three white coats, involving the use of four foolscap pages, one blank, a large envelope and a reply envelope enclosed and, as no information was given of the size of coats required, further correspondence would be required; how many of these tender forms have been issued from all factories; and whether he will consider adopting a more economical method of obtaining these small requirements?

Sir A. Duncan

I am grateful to my hon. Friend for drawing my attention to this case which, so far as I am aware, is an isolated one. I am, however, looking into the general procedure in this class of case with a view to simplification.
