HC Deb 16 December 1942 vol 385 cc1966-7W
Lieut.-Commander Tufnell

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware that members of the Royal Observer Corps frequently have to wait two or three weeks for their pay, apparently owing to a shortage of the postal drafts used for this purpose; and whether he will either arrange for the supply of these drafts to be increased or, alternatively, for some other method of payment to be adopted?

Sir A. Sinclair

Some delay in the issue of pay to members of the Royal Observer Corps occurred recently in two areas owing to difficulties in connection with the supply of postal drafts. The delays that occurred were wholly exceptional and I am assured that the supply of drafts will in future be adequate.
