§ Mr. D. Adamsasked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will advise the Governor of Sierra Leone to permit the resolution relative to the cost of living bonus, adopted by the Labour Advisory Board recently, to be published in order that the discontent of the workers as to the Governor's decision in the matter may be allayed?
§ Mr. Harold MacmillanAs I informed my hon. Friend in reply to his Question of 15th July, the rules of the Sierra Leone 1233W Advisory Board, which were approved by the Board at its first meeting, provide that meetings of the Board shall be held in private unless the chairman decides that the public should be invited to attend any particular meeting. No orders have been made by the Government prohibiting the publication of any report of the proceedings of the Board, but at a recent meeting of the Board it was decided that the minutes should not be published. My Noble Friend is not aware of any discontent on the part of the workers in connection with the Governor's decision in the matter of the cost of living bonus.
