HC Deb 05 August 1942 vol 382 cc1050-1W
Sir R. Gower

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action is being taken to establish a Free Siamese Government in this country?

Mr. Law

It is not practicable to establish a Free Siamese Government in this country. A large proportion of the Siamese nationals here at the outbreak of war with Siam expressed their desire to serve the cause of the United Nations. I warmly welcome this action on their part, and I am glad to be able to say that arrangements have been made with the War Office to enable these Siamese nationals to offer themselves for service in the Armed Forces of the Crown.
