HC Deb 05 August 1942 vol 382 c1051W
Flight-Lieutenant Boothby

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in view of the increase in the cost of living and of the proposed increases in pensions, any increases in the public assistance scales of payment and allowances are contemplated?

Mr. Westwood

My right hon. Friend is advised that local authorities take into account any changes in -the cost of living in fixing the amount of public assistance to be granted, and that in general they have already adjusted their' allowances to meet the increased cost. Any person, however, who is dissatisfied with the amount of assistance afforded to him has a right of appeal to the Department of Health for Scotland.
