It is my Department's policy only to requisition premises against known commitments and explicit instructions have been given that premises which it is known will not be wanted for future military use shall be derequisitioned. Claims under the Compensation (Defence) Act, 1939, in respect of requisitioned premises not in fact occupied by the Army are accepted unless the claimant has in fact occupied the premises himself during the period of requisition.
