Weekly allowance per head of certain articles of food for prisoners in local and convict prisons.
- Meat (excluding bacon), 12 oz.*
- Bacon, 4 oz.
- Milk, 2½ pts.
- Butter, Nil.
- Margarine, 8 oz.
- Bread—Women, 84 oz. Men in local prisons, 112 oz. Men in convict prisons, 140 oz.
- Cheese, 1 oz.
- Jam, or syrup or treacle, 2 oz. Sugar, 8 oz.
* If fish is not available, a further 4 oz. of meat may be issued provided that the total cost of the meat per head does not exceed the amount which the general public are allowed to spend.
