Colonel A. Evansasked the Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that adjustments of civil pay of civil servants serving with the Forces in India are being held up through the delay of the Government of India in replying to a communication from the India Office of 9th October, 1940, asking for particulars of the rate of military pay in issue; and whether he will take the necessary steps to see that the required information is forthcoming?
§ Mr. AmeryI regret the delay which has, no doubt, been in part due to the slowness of the mails. I have asked the Government of India by telegram to supply the necessary information as soon as possible.
