HC Deb 04 February 1941 vol 368 cc822-3W
Sir J. Mellor

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will receive a deputation from the Conjoint Conference of Public Utility Undertakings with regard to the provisions of the War Damage Bill and kindred matters?

Sir K. Wood

As my hon. Friend will be aware, war damage to the properties of Public Utility Undertakings will be the subject of separate legislation, and I should prefer to make further progress with the present Bill before receiving such a deputation as he proposes. This course will not in any way prejudice the position of the undertakings and will enable the Government to give further consideration to the complicated issues involved.
