HC Deb 21 March 1940 vol 358 cc2155-6W
Mr. Boyce

asked the Minister of Food whether he will make a statement on the working of meat rationing, saying what complaints he has received?

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The first week of meat rationing worked smoothly on the whole. A few cases of shortages of supplies were reported, but steps were taken immediately to provide additional supplies. In general, these difficulties were due to the inability of the butchers concerned to notify earlier the local food control committees of the full numbers of their registered customers.
