§ 50. Mr. R. Taylor
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the amount of any of the money which stands to the credit of the Treasury Pensions Account up to the latest available date?
§ Sir J. Simon
Receipts into the Treasury Pensions Account have exceeded 1043W payments to 31st October, 1939, by £23.753ooo This sum is invested in Government securities to a nominal amount of £23,919,000 and the present market value of these securities is approximately £24,929,000. This sum is not surplus to the requirements of the Pensions scheme but constitutes a provision towards the excess of the cost of benefits over the income from contributions and Exchequer grant over the next seven years or so.
