Miss Wardasked the Minister of Labour the comparative rises in the cost of living since the outbreak of war in this country and in France; and to what the difference is attributed?
§ Mr. E. BrownAt 1st November, the official cost-of-living index figure for the United Kingdom showed a rise of approximately 9 per cent. since the outbreak of the war. Corresponding figures for France are not available; so far as I am aware, statistics relating to the changes in the cost of living since the beginning of the war have not yet been officially published in that country.
