HC Deb 14 November 1939 vol 353 cc565-6W
Rear-Admiral Beamish

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he will provide particulars of all types of Government schools with their numbers of pupils which have been evacuated from London into the county of East Sussex and the towns therein, including Brighton and Hove; stating the original destinations, subsequent changes and prospective movements?

Mr. Lindsay

I understand that the only information which the London County Council could give—and that only after communicating specially with each of the seven reception areas—would consist of a list of the schools under the various types evacuated from London and their present location. My Noble Friend would not feel justified in throwing the heavy burden involved in compiling the information desired upon staffs which are working at high pressure. I shall, however, be glad to make inquiries about any particular school which my hon. and gallant Friend has in mind.
