HC Deb 09 November 1939 vol 353 cc443-4W
Mr. Glenvil Hall

asked the Secretary of State for War whether all officers commissioned in August and September have now received the £40 uniform allowance, and the field, marriage and other allowances to which they are entitled?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

It is believed that in all cases where claims have been received by command paymasters and are in order, the allowances in question have been paid, but it is probable that there is still a small number of officers whose joining has not been reported and on whose behalf allowances have not been claimed. Everything possible is being done to identify such officers, and it is hoped that in a very short time all such officers will have been traced. The normal outfit grant is now £30.
