HC Deb 09 November 1939 vol 353 cc445-6W
Mr. Thurtle

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that in the London area alone upwards of 500 skilled electricians, many of whom held key positions in the industry, are unemployed with very little prospect of finding work; and, in view of the large number of skilled and unskilled men connected with the electrical industry whose unemployment is partly due to the ban on capital ex-penditure, what action he proposes to take in the matter?

Mr. E. Brown

I assume the hon. Member is referring to workers employed by electricity undertakings and I would refer him to the reply which I gave on 5th October last to a similar question put by the hon. Member for Plaistow (Mr. Thorne). If the hon. Member has any specific cases in mind I will gladly inquire into them.
