HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 cc2129-30W
Sir R. Glyn

asked the Minister of Supply how many controls have been set up by his Department and for what purposes; who is in charge of each of these; where have their headquarters been established; and what is the present authorised establishment of each, giving salaried officials and others on a weekly payment basis?

Mr. Burgin

Sixteen controls have been set up by my Department for the purposes explained in the opening part of the statement which I made on the 21st September in the Debate on the Ministry of Supply. I have had a list prepared giving the names of the controllers and their headquarters and will send a copy to my hon. Friend.

The compilation of the complete information requested in the last part of the question would involve a call on the time of the staff which I am reluctant to make in existing pressure, but I will furnish my hon. Friend, as regards each of the controls, with information similar to that which I promised to the hon. Member for Salford, North (Mr. Morris) on the 19th October in relation to the Timber Control, that is, the names of staff, other than juniors, with their salaries and former occupations.
