§ Colonel Ropnerasked the Minister of Agriculture what was the total sum paid under the Livestock Industry Act during the last financial year for which figures are available?
§ Mr. RamsbothamI have been asked to reply. Expenditure under the Livestock Industry Act for a complete financial year is not yet available. For the 12 months ended the 28th February, 1939, the expenditure amounted to £4,364,000. Revised Subsidy Regulations, which came into force on the 1st July, 1938, allow a greater proportion of animals to obtain the quality rate of subsidy, and present expenditure is at the rate of over £4,400,000 per annum.
